1971 Buick Riviera

1972 Buick Riviera muscle car
1971 Buick Riviera. The Riviera muscle car was radically redesigned for the 1971 model year with flowing and dramatic “boat-tail” styling.  The 1971 Riviera also features GM’s “Full-Flo” ventilation system and two large deck lid louvers are prominent on the trunk lid. (Unfortunately, under certain conditions a vacuum was created that sucked rain and exhaust back into the car and the “Full-Flo” ventilation was redesigned and the louvers were removed from trunk lid for the 1972 model year.)

  1. I had a 69 Riv. And a 72 Riv. Both were Grand Sports. I loved that 69 but it kepted getting stolen. The 72 blew up in 4 months. Some how it kepted loosing oil and they couldn’t find where.

  2. The Riviera was not a muscle car (a once narrow definition that seems to get thrown at just about anything old these days) It was a personal luxury car, some thing that has gone the way of the dinosaur. The Riv was powerful for sure but was big and whisper quiet with a a smooth ride and all the luxury amenities of the day. No gear head of the day would have been caught dead in one. A lovely car and a very daring styling exercise for its time, its great to see one so well preserved.

Stomp that foot feed and watch an exciting race between the speedometer & the gas guage.

      Wish I had it now.
