’57 Chevy Corvette

'57 Chevy Corvette sports car
’57 Chevy Corvette. In ’57 you had big brakes, four speed transmission, which was long overdue, improved suspension parts and for the first time a milestone breakthrough: one horsepower per cubic inch with the 285 fueling.

  1. My First Corvette, I bought it in 1960. It was a 283/ 270HP (dual Quads) engine, close-ratio 4-speed and a 3:70 Posi traction rear end. Bought it off a Chevy dealer lot for $2600. I ran it at the drag strip a couple times, it would run with a 13:80 ET and a speed of 104 MPH BIG Medicine in 1960. I kept it a little over 3 years, and traded it in on a new 1964 Corvette Sting Ray, It was a coupe, 327/375 HP Fuel Injection engine, and 4- speed close ratio transmission.
